ICC World Twenty20 - 2nd match, Group C

Kenya v New Zealand

New Zealand won by 9 wickets (with 74 balls remaining)

10.00 am Maurice Ouma and David Obuya are Kenya's openers. Shane Bond has the new ball for New Zealand. He was outstanding at the World Cup in terms of economy-rate. Two slips in place.

Toss, 9.40 am: New Zealand have won the toss and will bowl.

Well Gareth Hopkins isn't keeping, he isn't even playing. So Brendon McCullum will keep wicket and open the batting for New Zealand.

New Zealand: 1 Brendon McCullum (wk), 2 Lou Vincent, 3 Jacob Oram, 4 Peter Fulton, 5 Ross Taylor, 6 Scott Styris, 7 Craig McMillan , 8 Daniel Vettori (capt), 9 Shane Bond, 10 Mark Gillespie, 11 Jeetan Patel

Kenya: 1 David Obuya, 2 Collins Obuya, 3 Tanmay Mishra, 4 Steve Tikolo (capt), 5 Thomas Odoyo, 6 Alex Obanda, 7 Jimmy Kamande, 8 Rajesh Bhudia, 9 Maurice Ouma (wk), 10 Nehemiah Odhiambo, 11 Peter Ongondo

Hello everybody and welcome to Cricinfo's live coverage of the second day of the ICC World Twenty20. We've got three matches today beginning with New Zealand v Kenya in Durban followed by Pakistan v Scotland, also at Kingsmead, and Australia v Zimbabwe in Cape Town. I'm George Binoy and, with Kanishkaa 'Kramer' Balachandiran, will bring you the action from the first two games.

We had a superb opening day yesterday. A fantastic drum-filled opening ceremony was followed by awesome hitting from Chris Gayle, who scored the first century in Twenty20 internationals, and then from Herschelle Gibbs who orchestrated the highest successful run-chase in Twenty20 internationals.

Today's games might not be as close but if you enjoy a glut of fours and sixes, stay tuned ...

New Zealand will be playing under a new captain, Daniel Vettori, and have made a few other interesting changes to their team. Brendon McCullum will open the batting and has handed over the wicketkeeping gloves to Gareth Hopkins. Word is that Jacob Oram will bat at No.3 with singular intent of hitting it hard and far.

Kenya will have their hands full and Steve Tikolo will play a crucial role for them. Check out Faras Ghani's preview for more information.

The pitch at the Wanderers was as flat as they come and the fast outfield and high altitude made run-scoring a breeze. Durban isn't likely to be very different. It's quite windy but the sun is out and conditions are ideal.

The stadium is rather empty I'm afriad, it being a weekday and all that. A few Pakistan supporters have got in early for the second game.

73. The lowest ever Twenty20 score, beating the 79 by Australia against England in Southampton.

Kenya never recovered after they lost their first three with no runs on board. The scorecard resembles a poultry farm with six ducks. Gillespie finishes with supreme figures of 4 for 7. For all you fantasy league players who picked him, I know you're smiling! By the way, his figures are the best in Twenty20, beating Collingwood's 4 for 22 v Sri Lanka.

Stats fact: Bond and Martin and only the sixth and seventh bowlers to bowl maidens in Twenty20 internationals. The others are Mohammad Asif, Abdur Razzak, Ajit Agarkar, Albie Morkel and Umar Gul.
