ICC World Twenty20 - 5th match, Group A

Bangladesh v West Indies

Bangladesh won by 6 wickets (with 12 balls remaining)

All set for the start. Chris Gayle and Devon Smith to open the batting.

Toss Ashraful calls correctly and decides to bowl first. No surprise really, considering the damp pitch.

The start has been delayed by an hour and we are looking to begin at 11 am local time. There won't be any reduction in the number of overs in the game.

10.17 am The start is likely to be delayed by an hour. Still to be officially confirmed. So hang on a while before you hit the bed in West Indies. Trust HRG to produce a stat for this. Apparently, this is the first game in Twenty20 history to have a delayed start.

9.50 am local time Umpire Benson has news for us. "It is too wet to start. It is only fair to both sides to delay the start and let the pitch dry a bit. The next pitch inspection is at 10.30 am and we are confident of a 11.00 am start."

I hope you have joined the Cricinfo Fantasy Cricket game. Its absolutely free to play. Simply register and get started. Good luck!

Pitch It looks pretty damp. We have to wait and see how much this affects the strokeplay. The ball should move around a touch early on. While you wait for the start, try the all new Cricinfo Slogout game.

9.30 am The start will be delayed by 30 minutes. Reason? Over watering of the pitch. If West Indies lose this one, they will be out of the tournament. What a disappointing bowling and fielding effort from them the other day. Chris Gayle deserved better. It was truly a brutal and a violent knock but poor bowling and some murderous batting from Gibbs did them in.

Bangladesh will fancy their chances in this shortened version of the game. They have some good hitters: Nazimuddin, Aftab Ahmed and Mohammad Ashraful can pack a punch. The passionate folks at Bangladesh cricket forum are quite upbeat. On the other hand, folks at the Caribbean Cricket forum sound pretty angry about their team's performance the other day. Marlon Samuels is in the doghouse there.

9.20 am Good afternoon and welcome to day 3 of the ICC World Twenty20. First up, we have a Group A clash - Bangladesh v West Indies for you.

I am Sriram Veera and will be bringing you all the action from this game.

0.1

Syed Rasel to Gayle, no run, Starts off in the zone outside off stump and Chris Gayle lets it go through to the 'keeper Rahim who is standing up to the stumps

0.2

Syed Rasel to Gayle, no run, closer to the off stump, it goes straight on after pitching and Gayle shoulders arms again

0.3

Syed Rasel to Gayle, OUT, Would you believe it? Gayle has gone for a duck! Slightly short in length, just outside the off stump and Gayle cuts it straight to point. Rasel is overjoyed, so are his team-mates as they mob him. Bangladesh are off to a great start.

0.6

That's the end of the spin experiment. Mortaza is on. Sensible decision, considering the damp conditions.

3.1

Mashrafe Mortaza to DS Smith, 1 wide, well outside the off stump and its a wide.

3.1

Mashrafe Mortaza to DS Smith, 1 wide, another one. Poor start by Mortaza. West Indies sent down 23 wides the other night. Hope Mortaza is not eyeing that unwanted record

Mashrafe Mortaza to DS Smith, 1 wide, Well ... well ... well what have we got here. An erratic Mortaza. Another one well outside off stump

5.3

Mashrafe Mortaza to DS Smith, no run, Climbs up from a length, close to the off stump, Smith shapes to cut but is beaten by the extra bounce.

5.4

Mashrafe Mortaza to DS Smith, FOUR, Short again - Mortaza has bowled poorly today, and Smith pulls it easily through midwicket. West Indies are beginning to get a move on, courtesy Smith and Mortaza.

Syed Rasel is the ninth bowler to bowl a maiden over in a Twenty20 game and the second one to get a wicket maiden. Bond was the first, says HRG

6.1

6.2

Syed Rasel to Chanderpaul, no run, Nagging line and length is forcing the batsmen to innovate. Chanders walks right across the sticks and tries to lap a length delivery around the corner but makes no contact and the ball thuds into the pad, outside the off stump.

6.3

Syed Rasel to Chanderpaul, 1 run, slightly short and width offered outside off stump, cut to deep point

6.6

Syed Rasel to Chanderpaul, 1 run, climbs up from short of length, outside the off stump, chopped away to third man. Rasel has completed his quota of four overs. Nagging and as a result, economical.

Farhad Reza to Chanderpaul, no run, full and outside the off stump, Chanderpaul shapes to cut and is beaten. He would be better off driving that through covbers

7.2

Farhad Reza to Chanderpaul, SIX, Er ... or just walk across and just lap it over deep square leg. Unorthodox but very effective. It was full in length, around that off stump but Chanderpaul played a cheeky little pick-up stroke

7.3

7.4

Farhad Reza to DS Smith, 2 runs, a tad shorter, on the middle stump line, pulled to deep square leg

7.6

Farhad Reza to DS Smith, FOUR, brings up the fifty with a fierce pull shot. Slightly short and he was quick to pounce on that.

End of over 8 (15 runs) West Indies 53/1 (RR: 6.62)
DS Smith    28* (25b 4x4)      Farhad Reza    1-0-15-0

8.1

Shakib Al Hasan to Chanderpaul, 1 run, on the hips, clipped to deep square leg

8.2

13.5

Abdur Razzak to Samuels, no run, huge shout for lbw. Close. Full and on the off and middle, Samuels is rooted to the crease and pushes at it. The arm-ball, from round the stumps, evades the prod and strikes him in front of off stump. That would have hit the stumps. The umpire must have felt the point of impact was outside off
