Word from the middle is that Virat Kohli won the toss and he decided to field against England, with an unchanged Indian side. England have swapped Chris Woakes for Steve Finn.

Here come England's openers, followed by the Indian fielders. Godleman to face Sangwan. Two slips.

JWA Taylor    1* (6b)      AK Argal    1-0-1-0
BA Godleman    0* (6b)

Sangwan to Taylor, 2 runs, walks across to off stump and flicks a full delivery wide of midwicket

Argal to Godleman, no run, back of a length and he gets on the back foot to play it back

5.4

Argal to Godleman, 1 run, oh thats a tough chance gone begging! 5.5

Argal to Taylor, no run, back of a length and Taylor plays it back to Argal

5.6

Argal to Taylor, no run, pitches full but Taylor gets a long way across, the ball flicks pad and goes down leg where the wicketkeeper, Goswami, dives to save runs, Argal appeals but the umpire says it was pitching outside the line of impact

End of over 6 (4 runs) England Under-19s 13/0
JWA Taylor    7* (18b)      AK Argal    3-1-5-0

7.6

Argal to Godleman, no run, good delivery, swinging in from off stump and its defended to point

For all of those who cannot watch the games, Godleman is an upright batsman at the crease, with a high back lift, and he has a tendency to shuffle well outside off stump in an attempt to negate swing and work the ball away. Taylor has been a bit nervous as well today.

End of over 8 (1 run) England Under-19s 19/0

A watchful start from the openers. They're biding their time.

Argal to Godleman, no run, this one's a touch wider and Godleman drives into the covers

11.4

Argal to Godleman, OUT, and thats the breakthrough from Argal, who pitches short of a length and gets the ball to move away ever so slightly and Godleman, defending with minimal footwork, gets the thinnest of edges through to Goswami

BA Godleman c †Goswami b Argal 6 (32b 1x4 0x6) SR: 18.75

The ball was in an excellent channel and the extra height undid Godleman. The opener was very slow where England should have been trying to use the Powerplays. Here's Alex Wakley, a right-handed bat. His favorite player is a certain Ricky Ponting.

11.5

Argal to Wakely, no run, pitches on a length and moves away and Wakely shoulders arms

11.6

Argal to Wakely, no run, on the stumps and thats well defended off the front foot.

A tidy over gets Argal a wicket, to just lift Indian spirits. England are 31-1 after 12 overs. Change in the bowling as Sidharth Kaul comes on. He's just marking his run-up.

In the meantime, here's Paul Joseph, on email: "IPL will only benefit cricket and its players. Cricket isn't the only sport where money has lured young players into the game, both basketball and football in the US does the same year after year. If you have the talent put a price to it...Kobe Bryant and LeBaron James...they were recruited straight out of high school."
