ICC Under-19 World Cup - Semi final

India Under-19s v New Zealand Under-19s

India Under-19s won by 3 wickets (with 9 balls remaining) (D/L method)

The players are out in the middle. We're just moments from the start. Sangwan has the new ball. George Worker, the left-hander, takes strike. One slip and a gully. ON ON

Toss: The news from the middle is that Kane Williamson has won the toss and New Zealand will bat first. With the exception of Tim Southee, the rest of the New Zealand players have no experience of playing under lights and that influenced Williamson's decision. He expects the pitch to crack later on. We'll wait and see on that. The experts feel the pitch will get slower and lower later on.

13.45 Teams: Both teams are unchanged from their previous games.

India: Virat Kohli (capt), Ravi Jadeja, Tanmay Srivastava, Taruwar Kohli, Shreevats Goswami (wk), Saurav Tiwary, Manish Pandey, Iqbal Abdulla, Pradeep Sangwan, Ajitesh Argal, Siddarth Kaul

New Zealand: George Worker, Kane Williamson (capt), Michael Guptill-Bunce (wk), Fraser Colson, Corey Anderson, Greg Morgan, Michael Bracewell, Tim Southee, Nick Beard, Anurag Verma, Trent Boult

13.15 local time: 'allo 'allo and welcome to Cricinfo's ball-by-ball coverage of the 1st semi-final of the Under-19 World Cup between India and New Zealand. This is Kanishkaa Balachandran in the commentary cubicle. Allow me to welcome Kiran, who's scoring this game, and George Binoy, who's at the Kinrara Academy Oval in Kuala Lumpur. We're into the semi-finals already? Feels like the tournament started just yesterday...

On form and experience, India start off as the favourites. They are fortunate to have players with first-class experience of upto two seasons and it's no surprise they're undefeated in this World Cup. They brushed aside Papua New Guinea, South Africa, West Indies and England before getting here.

New Zealand defeated Zimbabwe, Malaysia and lost to Pakistan in the group stages before beating Sri Lanka in the quarters. New Zealand are on unfamiliar terrain given that this is their first match at the Kinrara oval. The pitches in their earlier games suited the seamers and the Indians will be tested by the opening duo of Trent Boult and Tim Southee. It won't be easy, given that India have played all their games at the same venue. Feels like home.

Match State: Innings Break

India need 206 to reach the finals. New Zealand scratched around for a long time before Corey Anderson picked up the pace. It's hard to say how competitive it is, and New Zealand may have to call on their slow men much like the Indians did for most part. Anderson was the big difference and unlike some in the top order, wasn't afraid to use his feet.

Virat Kohli may have misused some of his bowlers, like giving Argal only six overs when he was bowling well. Jadeja could have bowled a few more as well. 206 is a middle of the road target and India will still feel they have the edge. Join us in around half an hour for the chase.
