Profile

A well-known middle-order batsman in Kenyan cricket, Harilal Shah captained East Africa in the inaugural World Cup in 1975, starting the campaign with ducks in his first two games (against New Zealand and India) before scraping 6 against England. He fared better in his only first-class outing (against Sri Lanka at Taunton ahead of the World Cup), making 59 and 33. He later managed the Kenyan national side (including during the 1999 World Cup in England) and subsequently became their chief of selectors.
