His Test career consisted of just one match as wicketkeeper against New Zealand at Karachi in 1976/77. Catches dropped by him and the rest of the team resulted in Pakistan squandering a winning position, and he was not again considered. Although he batted at No. 11 in that game, he was a better batsman than that. Although his first-class career spanned 11 seasons, he was an infrequent player and only really took part in three full campaigns.
