Like a number of other English players serving in the forces - he was in the RAF - Peter Gracey, batsman and legspinner who had been in the Wellington XI for four years, made his first-class debut for Europeans in India in 1945-46 where he made his highest score - 61 - as well as taking 2 for 21. He went to Oxford in 1941, winning a war-time Blue, and returned there after the war and made four more appearances in 1947 and 1948 without winning a full Blue. He did, however, wins Blues at hockey and golf.
