George Vassila was a professional fast bowler who had trials for Surrey as well as playing for their Colts, his one first-class outing was for Middlesex against Gloucestershire in 1880. He also umpired two first-class matches, the first in 1881 when he was only 23 and three months before his Middlesex appearance.
