Now you see it, now you don't: Ramnaresh Sarwan clipped a Syed Rasel delivery to midwicket and set off. Saqibul Hasan swooped and threw in one fluid motion, and replays showed that Sarwan was just short of his ground. Rudi Koertzen, who equalled David Shepherd's record for the most one-day games as an umpire, didn't even refer it upstairs, and Sarwan went from 62 to 91 not out.

Dropping the baby: Corey Collymore produced a superb delivery to take the edge of Tamim Iqbal's bat, and Brian Lara's palms closed around it at second slip. But just as Collymore started his rocking-the-baby celebrations, Lara spilled the ball in the process of throwing it skyward. Not out, and a real jolt for the baby.

Hot shot: Brian Lara's 33 spanned just 27 balls, and the undoubted highlight was a quite stunning six over point. Mashrafe Mortaza stood and stared, part bemusement and part admiration.

The delivery that reared up at Javed Omar and took the outer edge of the bat wouldn't have been out of place in the 1980s catalogue, and it had the same result.

Smash and grab: Another brutal bouncer saw off Habibul Bashar. Bashar took the bottom hand off and just about avoided grievous bodily harm, and it was left to Dwayne Bravo to take a superb acrobatic catch at third slip.

Seen and heard: 'Reds' Perreira watched from the press box as West Indies produced one of those how-late-it-was performances. "No commitment, no discipline," was his assessment of the moderns. "If their practice ethic was as good as their party ethic, they'd be world-class." Ouch.
