ICC World Cup - 31st match, Super Eights

Bangladesh v New Zealand

New Zealand won by 9 wickets (with 124 balls remaining)

Hello and welcome to the New Zealand v Bangladesh game. I am Sriram Veera and will be your commentator today.

Toss Stephen Fleming has won the toss and has opted to bowl.

Andrew Miller is at the ground and he writes in. "Two changes for Bangladesh. Javed Omar comes in for Shahriar Nafees, and Syed Rasel returns for Tapash Baisya.

" Bright and sunny day, although that's never stopped delays in the past. Anticipating a prompt start though. Bangladesh warming up and New Zealand are stretching on the other side of the pitch. Ian Botham believes it is a belter of a wicket today, and anticipates the side winning the toss will bat first. I happen to disagree, but who am I to argue?"

This should be a cracker of a game. Remember, Bangladesh beat New Zealand in the warm-up game. So there would be some needle involved.

Brendon McCullum: "We have to keep our feet on the ground when it comes to Bangladesh," said McCullum. "After losing to them in the warm-up they will have a pretty strong belief they can knock us over again so we have to on the top of our game. They pose a threat with their seamers up front, and if they get helpful conditions they can be a handful."

Whatmore was quite disappointed with his team's approach against Australia. "The boys have got the ability, but a rush of blood here and a rush of blood there and it's so frustrating"

Mason is some trouble. He pulled up prior release. Must have pulled up his calf muscle. He is leaving the field now. Doesn't look too serious. Some ice on the affected area and he should be ok. Well... I hope so.. I am no physio. McMillan replaces him

Deaks has a gripe: "I can't believe Jeets Patel isn't getting a run. Vettori is not a one-day player. He might be great in the test arena but he bleeds runs in the shorter game and doesn't have the time he needs to work batsmen over to take their wickets. His one-day figures, and especially his world cup figures, are poor. Patel has energy and form. And his name is Patel, the same as one of our past world cup heroes. Are you listening Bracewell? Give Jeets a run!"

Kingi: "reply to Deaks, I'm afraid you're wrong, my Kiwi friend, Jeets is nowhere near as good as Vettori, he is unproven at this level. Danny can bat very well. I agree with the energy, he is well up there with the rest. As for Deepak Patel, he was guff, although he did look good in a beige shirt though."

Syed Rasel b Oram 10 (22m 18b 1x4 0x6) SR: 55.55

It was a clinical performance by New Zealand. Bangladesh have been shot out for a below-par 174. Advantage NZ. Join us in a while for the chase.

Chris is chuffed with the Kiwi performance. "Very impressive! A lot like the Kiwis bowling performance against the Windies. Oram and Styris showed today how important they are to New Zealand's World Cup hopes. Am looking forward to seeing Gillespie and Martin bowl in upcoming games, because the bowling performances of Franklin so far are not up to scratch. "

Well. .. to an extent. But against West Indies, New Zealand were pretty deadly with the new ball. Not so today. The openers played them out before Oram did the damage. Bond was lethal when he came back for the second spell and Styris bagged a few wickets in a clutch with his nagging line and length. Overall.... a pretty clinical performance.
