ICC World Cup - 34th match, Super Eights

Bangladesh v South Africa

Bangladesh won by 67 runs

Hello and welcome to the Bangladesh v South Africa game. I am Sriram Veera and will be bringing you all the live action today.

Toss SA choose to bowl in slightly overcast conditions. Nel comes in for Andrew Hall. Bashar admits he would have also liked to have the first bite of the cherry. No changes in the Bangladesh team.

Pitch report: There may be a bit of early assistance to the bowlers. But the experts reckon it would flatten out to be a good batting track.

Well ... to start off, do read Rahul's piece on the rise of Bangladesh cricket.

Meanwhile, trouble brewing in paradise. Following Dav Whatmore's statements to the media about his interest in coaching India, the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) have convened an emergency meeting on April 10 to discuss his future as coach of Bangladesh.

South Africa are trying hard to focus on the game and not try take anything for granted. Jacques Kallis: "We've made that mistake a few times in the past and I'm keen not to make it again. In fact, we've sworn to each other that we won't look too far ahead. If we can leave Guyana with six points on the log then we might only have to win one out of the next three games...or something like that."

Some good news for the fans. World Cup committee have declared that " fans can now bring musical instruments without applying to the Local Organising Committees (LOCs) beforehand. Starting from tomorrow's Bangladesh-South Africa match in Guyana, spectators can simply turn up on Match Days with their instruments and be given the approval as they pass through security. "

Aha. Now we will hopefully see some revelry and fun beyound the boundary. Let's wait and watch.

Right... all set Tamim Iqbal and Javed Omar are out in the middle. Two slips in place

Nel to Mohammad Ashraful, OUT, Rahim sacrifices his wicket. That was the right thing to do but he created the mess in the first place. Ashraful had driven a full-pitched delivery to left of mid-on where Kemp dived to make a fine stop. Ashraful had called early and had run right across. Rahim had started but for some reason stalled, was caught ball-watching and tried to get back to his crease. Then he saw Ashraful rushing across. For a moment both were at similar position. Who will get first to the safety of the crease? Suddenly, Rahim decides he has get to the other end and save Ashraful's wicket. He doesn't manage to reach the other end though.

Nel to Mohammad Ashraful, OUT, Would you believe it? There was no short fine leg, just a regulation deep fine leg. Ashraful shuffles across, paddles a low full-toss, connects sweetly and it flies straight to that man in the deep. Did Ashraful not see that the man was standing back or ...? Five-for for Nel who has impressed today and sent out a notice to the selectors. But what a gem of a knock from Ashraful. Delightful and Yummy!

Join us in a while for the chase. It should be interesting. Remember Gibbs is suffering from a calf-strain and it was announced that he will bat only if necessary.
