ICC World Cup - 34th match, Super Eights

Bangladesh v South Africa

Bangladesh won by 67 runs

13.4

Nel to Javed Omar, OUT, Gone! Slashes away to his peril. Short of length and outside off, Omar's eyes lit up at the width, has a slash but it flashes fast but straight to Smith at Gully.Omar falls after a patient knock. He has laid the platform. Can the rest do something with it? Time will tell.

Javed Omar c Smith b Nel 17 (57m 41b 2x4 0x6) SR: 41.46

Bangladesh 42/1   Tamim Iqbal 22* (41b 3x4)   A Nel 1.4-0-3-1

17.1

Nel to Habibul Bashar, OUT, Super reflex catch. Full in length, on the middle stump line, Bashar drives uppishly to right of Nel who is in the middle of his follow-through. No problem though. He stretches his right hand out and the ball nestles into his palm.

Habibul Bashar c & b Nel 5 (19m 14b 0x4 0x6) SR: 35.71

Bangladesh 59/2   Tamim Iqbal 33* (49b 5x4)   A Nel 3.1-1-7-2

19.5

Nel to Tamim Iqbal, OUT, For the first time Tamim tried heaving over the leg side while advancing down the track. He didn't quite pull it off. Ended up nicking it to Boucher. He ran down the track to a back-of-length delivery and tried to pull but ....

Tamim Iqbal c †Boucher b Nel 38 (90m 59b 6x4 0x6) SR: 64.40

Bangladesh 69/3   Shakib Al Hasan 0* (8b)   A Nel 4.5-1-13-3

23.4

Kallis to Shakib Al Hasan, OUT, Another one caught behind point. It was banged in short, rises up shoulder-level, just outside off, Saqib went back, hopped up, tried to get on top of the bounce but couldn't. And he ended up patting it straight to Smith at backward point.

Shakib Al Hasan c Smith b Kallis 9 (30m 27b 1x4 0x6) SR: 33.33

Bangladesh 84/4   Mohammad Ashraful 4* (6b 1x4)   JH Kallis 0.4-0-0-1

37.6

Ntini to Aftab Ahmed, OUT, It was a fluent drive. I thought it was going to go to four. Instead, it goes to the man at sweeper cover. Fullish, outside off and he drove it uppishly over cover. Nel moves to his right , swoops low to take the catch.

Aftab Ahmed c Nel b Ntini 35 (59m 43b 2x4 2x6) SR: 81.39

Bangladesh 160/5   Mohammad Ashraful 35* (49b 4x4)   M Ntini 6-1-24-1

42.1

Nel to Mohammad Ashraful, OUT, Rahim sacrifices his wicket. That was the right thing to do but he created the mess in the first place. Ashraful had driven a full-pitched delivery to left of mid-on where Kemp dived to make a fine stop. Ashraful had called early and had run right across. Rahim had started but for some reason stalled, was caught ball-watching and tried to get back to his crease. Then he saw Ashraful rushing across. For a moment both were at similar position. Who will get first to the safety of the crease? Suddenly, Rahim decides he has get to the other end and save Ashraful's wicket. He doesn't manage to reach the other end though.

Mushfiqur Rahim run out 6 (16m 13b 0x4 0x6) SR: 46.15

Bangladesh 179/6   Mohammad Ashraful 47* (61b 5x4)   A Nel 6.1-1-22-3

47.2

Nel to Mashrafe Mortaza, OUT, Nel comes up with a super yorker. Full, straight, homing in on the middle stump. Mortaza tries to bring his bat down but the ball evades the blade and the furniture is disturbed. A nice little cameo comes to an end.

Mashrafe Mortaza b Nel 25 (20m 16b 3x4 1x6) SR: 156.25

Bangladesh 233/7   Mohammad Ashraful 75* (76b 10x4)   A Nel 8.2-1-36-4

49.1

Nel to Mohammad Ashraful, OUT, Would you believe it? There was no short fine leg, just a regulation deep fine leg. Ashraful shuffles across, paddles a low full-toss, connects sweetly and it flies straight to that man in the deep. Did Ashraful not see that the man was standing back or ...? Five-for for Nel who has impressed today and sent out a notice to the selectors. But what a gem of a knock from Ashraful. Delightful and Yummy!

Mohammad Ashraful c Langeveldt b Nel 87 (127m 83b 12x4 0x6) SR: 104.81

Bangladesh 248/8   Mohammad Rafique 2* (4b)   A Nel 9.1-1-42-5
