Tom Tikolo was a giant of Kenyan cricket in the era before they started playing regularly against major teams, and his figures do not do justice to his abilities with the bat. He subsequently moved into coaching, enjoying a successful time as development officer for East Africa, and when Kenyan cricket removed the Sharad Ghai regime he returned as CEO and a national selector. He was at the forefront of rebuilding the game, but at the end of 2009 he resigned after financial irregularities emerged.
