Spinners, Emrit bowl T&T into final

ESPNcricinfo staff

Trinidad & Tobago secured a place in the final of the Regional Super50 with a four-wicket win against Guyana at Providence. Guyana chose to bat but came unstuck against T&T's spin-heavy attack and medium-pacer Rayad Emrit. Legspinner Samuel Badree, who bowled an economical spell of 1 for 28 in ten overs, struck the first blow, dismissing Guyana captain Assad Fudadin for a duck. Emrit got rid of the other opener, Trevon Griffith, and Guyana were 22 for 2. Leon Johnson, who top scored with 66, led the resistance from the middle order but it was broken by the offspinners, Sunil Narine and Sherwin Ganga. Narine bowled a 12-over spell and finished with 2 for 26. Emrit returned to jolt the lower order, picking up 4 for 39 as Guyana were limited to 200 for 9.

T&T's chase got off to a rocky start with wicketkeeper William Perkins falling to offspinner Steven Jacobs before a run had been scored. Jacobs would go on to finish with figures of 2 for 20 in 12 overs. The other opener, Justin Guillen, scored 63 to keep one end steady but there was little support at the other. Guyana were in with a solid chance when Sherwin Ganga fell with T&T on 106 for 5 in the 28th over. Jason Mohammed, however, scored an unbeaten 65 from No. 5 and shepherded T&T home. He had support from Emrit and Kevon Cooper, who both made 17, as they reached 201 for 6 with 23 balls to spare.

@ Peter Gibson......Tnt has a very good team, good batsmen, bowlers and fielders. Why is Tnt not good enough to consider playing by themselves?? The West Indies cricket team is still playing International cricket and TnT are way better than W.I. Tnt batsmen are sort of out of form lately but someone always, plays a good knock at the time when it is needed.A little more concentration and our best players representing Tnt and not West Indies....we could surely go on our own!!!

Great job team T&T. Jason you are the man! We need to improve our ability to take singles, and keep the scoreboad ticking. Is imran khan on the bench? We need another batting all rounder to boost the team. Darren Ganga you need to dig deep down inside you and bat like a captain. You can do it! We all know that you can but you got to find it deep down. Your supporters all always with you and wanting you to do well. Davd Mohammed did not look very good in this game. Sherwin bowled a bit too much. All the best in the finals, my friends.

TNT has a good One Day team. Jamaica has won the regional four day tournament for the last four years. Where was TNT? TNT's batting does not measure up at the international level. In the Champion's league their batting was poor but I will give the bowlers credit. I feel Badree and Naraine can play International cricket However TNT are not good enough to play or consider playing by themself.

i can answer your question satish619chandar Ottis Gibbson and the WICB don't run Trinidad & Tobago cricket, it is run by an organization that has T&T cricket at heart.

    I'll tell you why satish619chandar

They are lead wonderfully (unlike west indies) TTCB is a much better organisation than WICB Good youth cricket VERY GOOD SPINNERS FOR GENERATIONS even though the selectors refused to pic them Thats why trinis COULD BAT SPIN ASK BC LARA WHEN DHANRAJ USE TO PRACTICE WITH HIM.
