The WI desperately need a new captain. Holder's fielding tactics are truly bizarre. With batting too, what was Marlon thinking? What was needed was a lot of patience. But he seemed to be in T20 mode. Also, Holder seems to be the weakest of all the four bowlers. The two new kids performed beyond expression and Gabriel has been pretty consistent. Holder lacks pace and intensity, he can keep batsmen quiet, but wickets are what win matches and he has had a scant few of those.

As I have said before, Holder has no place being captain of this team. You gotta have a killer instinct which he does not have. You have to be ruthless and Holder is not. As it is now, the WI is devoid of leadership in almost area. From management right down to on the field. If thew WI persists with Holder as captain they will continue to see this negative kind of cricket. It all started in the first test when they picked this weak very weak batting line -up. Holder actually defended it. Off course they lost badly. And In sabina, you won the toss, have a pitch with grass and you bat? You have a more potent bowling line-up and you bat? Quite silly. Holder as I have said is a nice guy, but is clearly out of his depth here, but the WI cricket need a leader who won't speak out against anything so they are stuck with a weak leader and keep hoping something will happen. Guess what, it ain't,

At the 'inception' of the Indo-WI test series (I cant remember how many decades ago it was), Bhuvi was not even born. That was the main reason he wasn't included, then.

Given that Jadeja is a workhorse, can we try any bowler other than Ishant? How about trying the new lad Shardul in the next test or bring back Umesh Yadav who took 4 wickets in the first test.

  • Jonathan on August 13, 2016, 6:25 GMT

I still don't understand why he wasn't included from the inception of the series. It is quite clear that he possesses a skill set that pips all other members of the Indian bowling attack, The same goes for Jadeja. West Indies has always been troubled by swing bowling and left arm spin.
