Oh Hello! Chris Gayle has walked out to the centre with a 1980's style bright red headband.. perhaps for the wind. Pollard has also got one underneath his cap. Kemar Roach to start the proceedings.

8.55 am We are all set to go. The stands in this beautiful setting in Gros Islet, however, remain empty.

8.30 am Toss: West Indies have won the toss and they will bowl first today. Dwayne Bravo wants his fast bowlers to make use of the early moisture and is going in with an unchanged XI. Misbah says there are lots of runs to be had on this pitch but he thinks that the pitch could be a little slow for the batsmen. Haris Sohail and Junaid Khan are the two changes in the squad, replacing Asad Ali and Asad Shafiq.

Nauman: "Good team selection. I will like to persist with Ahmad for the whole series, as well as T20s. Then evaluate and drop if necessary. OK to carry on with Hafeez also for this series. Post that him & Afridi should battle for #7 spot, allowing Umar Amin/Asad Shafiq to compete for middle order spot."

Adrian Meredith: "My eyes nearly popped out when I looked at Harris Sohail's record. How on earth has he managed to stay out of Pakistan's team for so long? Especially given how terrible Pakistan's batting has been."

Farhan Tufail: "Good changes made by Pakistan.... But would have preferred to leave out M. Hafeez instead of A. Shafiq. Hope H. Sohail proves a point for being ignored for such a long time... let's see which number he bats...."

Waleed: "@AdrianMeredith:- My heart cried when I see Pakistan's squad and I don't see Fawad Alam's name. Just check his average. He will be the best Pakistan middle order batsman if given a run. He has that habit of rotating the strike which to most Pakistan batsmen looks like a desease."

8.15am Welcome/Byen Venu to our coverage of the third ODI between West Indies and Pakistan. The entourage has moved to St Lucia for the remaining ODIs but it remains to be seen if that brings any change in the fortunes of the batsmen. Jeff Dujon certainly thinks that the pitch here would favour the batsmen a lot more than it did in the first two ODIs. It's hard, it's got a tinge of green, it's likely to stay true through the day, and should quicken up as the little moisture dries up. The windy conditions (the sun is shining bright though) should certainly help that.

A telling stat for Pakistan fans - Misbah averages over 50 this year in the ODIs while everyone else averages below 30 (Afridi has played only 7 ODIs and his avg is around 34). Afridi, meanwhile, fizzled in the second ODI after a scintillating performance in the first. Mazher Arshad lists his many comebacks here.

2.4

Roach to Nasir Jamshed, no run, this time he stays in the crease and defends the back of length delivery to leg side

Umar: "It is painful to see the Pakistani openers have the same block block leave strategy in every game. The strength of both these players is shot making and they should capitalize on that, rather than molding their technique to something they are not use to."

4.6

Roach to Nasir Jamshed, 1 run, edged and it just falls short of Sammy at second slip! Again, Jamshed chooses to stay on the back foot to a fullish delivery, gets a single down to third man

Bilal: "I have a long standing theory that PK teams adapt the personality of their captain, as their is no other institutional structure. Misbah's cautious slow & steady personality has therefore permeated across this team with pretty disasterous results over the last year in the shorter game. You can see it in how Nasir's game has suddenly changed. Afridi's the only one who has not changed (in this current team)."

End of over 5 (3 runs) Pakistan 15/0 (RR: 3.00)

6.6

Roach to Ahmed Shehzad, 1 run, there is a direct hit at the striker's end, but Jamshed makes it easily after Shehzad pushes a length delivery to mid-off and calls for a quick single

7.2

Holder to Ahmed Shehzad, no run, dropped by Gayle! Oh this is a straightforward chance at first slip, waist high, right in the middle, goes in and pops out. The batsman had gone for a drive on a length ball.. What a reprieve! Holder was celebrating it already and had to turn back in disappointment

7.3

Holder to Ahmed Shehzad, no run, length delivery slightly wide outside off, the batsman leaves it alone this time

7.4

7.6

Holder to Nasir Jamshed, no run, length delivery on off stump, the batsman defends it to midwicket

End of over 8 (4 runs) Pakistan 26/0 (RR: 3.25)

Zain: "@ Bilal - if that is the case, then these batsman deserve even more scrunity!! You dont see Eion Morgan or KP losing their aggression because Cook is "defensive"! What next? Its Misbah's fault that Toronto was hit by a flood this past month? At least use logic when you bash Misbah please....."

8.1

11.4

Holder to Nasir Jamshed, 1 run, he shuffles across to this full delivery and pushes it to cover where a slight misfield allows for a single

Calvin: "One of the reasons that the WI side that ruled the cricketing world, apart from their devastating fast bowlers, was the many outstanding slip fielders. For at the pace they were bowling you at, they at to be super good to be at any close in position."

11.5

Holder to Ahmed Shehzad, OUT, Has this been taken? Roach does that trick at the fine-leg boundary - he takes the catch, realises his falling over, pops it back in, goes out and comes back to complete the catch. But there is a problem, his left foot was too close the rope and the umpires are looking at it. But they are happy with it, Shehzad has to go. He top-edged his pull shot high and for a moment it looked like it was going to sail over the fielder. Good catch by Roach

Omair Siddiqui: "The issue with MIsbah and his strike rate is that he is just too critical of the conditions. You will hear him talk about the conditions in just about every post-match interview. I think he basically makes up his mind how the pitch will behave before he even plays a shot on it. Other batsmen find different ways to score runs, not Misbah. He follows the same approach."

49.1

Pollard to Wahab Riaz, 1 wide, he bowls a wide from wide of the crease.. too much angle on that one

49.6

Pollard to Umar Akmal, 1 run, slower delivery from wide of the crease, it's cut straight to short third man

So Pakistan somehow conspire to put up a 230-ish total again. The pitch and conditions don't really matter. They were in early trouble and crawled to 100 as Misbah 'anchored' the innings once again. He scored a good half-century, but just when Pakistan needed another powerpacked innings from Afridi, he disappeared quickly. But that last wicket partnership of 52 that came in five overs has given Pakistan something to bowl at. Given Pakistan's bowling and WI's batting, this is likely to be a good contest again. Monsieur Kanishkaa to take you through when we get back for the second innings.

George: "infuriating captaincy this!!Why not give Samuels a few more overs when he conceded just 4runs in 3 overs??And why does Bravo think he is a good death bowler when he repeatedly concedes at more than 7 an over?"

Adeel: "Wahab Riaz's ODI Batting average is more than half of Afridi, his ODI bowling average is better than Afridi. Might as well make his a super star for next 17 years too, may be Afriid will retire by then (and not come back this time)? .. May be .."

End of over 50 (11 runs) Pakistan 229/6
Umar Akmal    40* (31b 6x4)      KA Pollard    1-0-9-0
Wahab Riaz    19* (10b 2x6)      DJ Bravo    7-0-50-2
