South Africa in West Indies ODI Series - 5th ODI

West Indies v South Africa

South Africa won by 1 wicket (with 2 balls remaining)

3.6

Tsotsobe to Richards, OUT, Richards does not make much use of the reprieve. Tsotsobe changes the angle and comes in from round the stumps, pings it in short of a length outside off, and Richards dangles the bat like he were fishing in high-tide. The edge flies into the broad presence of Kallis at first slip and he tumbles behind after pouching it

DM Richards c Kallis b Tsotsobe 19 (19b 2x4 1x6) SR: 100.00

West Indies 22/1   CH Gayle 2* (5b)   LL Tsotsobe 2-0-10-1

McLaren to Gayle, OUT, gone. As is often the case, a period of good bowling is followed by a soft dismissal off a not so good ball. Very short and looping outside off, the lack of pace makes Gayle pull rather than cut, and the uncontrolled shot carries easily to Smith at mid on, whose reaction suggests that it was a planned dismissal. Good on the South Africans.

CH Gayle c Smith b McLaren 12 (19b 1x4 0x6) SR: 63.15

West Indies 45/2   S Chanderpaul 12* (27b 1x4)   R McLaren 1.5-0-3-1

van der Merwe to DM Bravo, OUT, you can take the keeping role away from Bouch, but you can't keep him quiet, can you! The gloves are off, but the acrobatics are alive. Driven expansively, in the air, and it was flying over Boucher's head at cover. And then he took off, he cruised mid-air, soared high, put his hand out, and plucked it like an apple. Take a Bow-cher!

DM Bravo c Boucher b van der Merwe 17 (47b 0x4 0x6) SR: 36.17

West Indies 96/3   S Chanderpaul 43* (63b 3x4)   RE van der Merwe 4.3-1-8-1

34.1

Tsotsobe to DJ Bravo, OUT, Tsotsobe does Bravo in with a lethal leg cutter - a carbon copy of his dismissal from Dominica - Bravo played inside the line and missed, the ball eluded his outside edge and crashed into the timber. Great piece of bowling!

DJ Bravo b Tsotsobe 26 (33b 1x4 1x6) SR: 78.78

West Indies 137/4   S Chanderpaul 57* (88b 4x4)   LL Tsotsobe 5.1-0-25-2

39.5

Botha to Chanderpaul, OUT, nicely done! Sharp spinning ball, angling in and pitching outside off, and straightening, strikes Chanders in front of the sticks and would have taken out off stump. Botha appeals loudly, catches his breath and appeals even more loudly, before Umpire Malcolm's finger goes up.

S Chanderpaul lbw b Botha 67 (104b 4x4 0x6) SR: 64.42

West Indies 161/5   N Deonarine 14* (18b 1x6)   J Botha 9.5-0-47-1

46.5

Kallis to Pollard, OUT, anti-climax.. That was not a slower ball, it was a full toss on off stump, asking to be tonked, but Pollard for some reason was early into the shot and ended up spooning it feebly towards extra cover for a simple catch. Ah, well.. nervous in the 20s again.

KA Pollard c Smith b Kallis 25 (19b 1x4 2x6) SR: 131.57

West Indies 219/6   N Deonarine 43* (41b 3x4 1x6)   JH Kallis 4.5-0-29-1
