Schoolmaster George Cording epitomised the spirit amongst the band of amateur players by devoting his spare time to Glamorgan C.C.C. for many years. Cording was a highly successful batsman at club level and during his summer holidays, he helped the county out as a middle order batsman and occasional wicket-keeper. Even after he had retired from playing, he continued to promote the game amongst the schoolboys of South Wales, and helped to generate enthusiasm for the game.
