Profile

Prince Christian Victor, who died of fever in Pretoria, in October, 1900, was a capable cricketer while at Wellington College, and was, by all accounts, close to getting into the XI while at Oxford. On joining the army he played a considerable amount of cricket, and was one of the few men who ever played an innings of over two hundred in India, scoring 205 for the Kings"s Royal Rifles v. the Devonshire Regiment, at Rawalpindee in 1893. It was said that he gave away his wicket on being told he had surpassed the highest score made in the country, only to be informed moments later that he was actually 13 short.
