A promising spinner in his youth, Carpenter has sadly developed the yips in recent years. He has flirted with the idea of becoming a slow medium bowler in the past, but stopped because he found this too much effort. Carpenter made his name pioneering a revolutionary form of 'spin' bowling where he made absolutely no effort to turn the ball, simply firing it in at the batsman's legs. His statistics tell the tale of his batting, it is worth noting that they have not even been doctored, and he is a better batsman than he is a fielder. A charming fellow when he's in a good mood, this is a rare occurence. Carpenter recently followed Darren Gough into the murky waters of reality television, entering Alan Sugar's 'The Apprentice' under the pseudonym Paul Tulip. He fooled no-one.
