Profile

A member of the XI at St Edward's, Oxford, Kenneth Harding lost part of his right hand in World War I, but even with this handicap made so many runs for Eastbourne that in 1928 he played three matches for Sussex and against Essex at Leyton scored 55 not out. Such was his ability at cub level that in 1952 he was appointed Eastbourne's 1st XI captain at the age of 60, some 20 seasons after he had first stood down from the post. A talented rugby player, he represented Blackheath and was talked about as being a possible candidate for England selection.
