Ron Lynch was a slow left-armer who played three times for Essex in 1954 although his opportunities were limited. His first match was ruined by rain and he did not bowl; in his second he took 4 for 64 in the only innings against Northamptonshire; and in his third he took 0 for 43 as Lancashire won by eight wickets. He played many times for the Club Cricket Conference - including a game against the 1959 Indian tourists - and went on to become a leading administrator in Essex club cricket.
