Profile

Ian Moore played Minor County cricket for Lincolnshire either side of an eight-year career with Nottinghamshire. As a top and middle-order batsman he scored 6765 runs at 25.05 and passed 1000 runs in a season three times. His most memorable performances came against tourists - in 1964 he scored a hundred against Bobby Simpson's Australians and in 1967 made 206*, by some way the highest of his seven first-class centuries, against the Indians. Although less effective in limited-overs cricket, he was captain of the Lincolnshire side which beat Glamorgan in the 1974 Gillette Cup. After retiring he continued playing league cricket for Macclesfield, topping the league averages with 1164 runs in 1984. A good golfer, in later years he raised more than £50,000 for the NSPCC in annual charity events.
