A left-handed batsman and left-arm spinner, George Worker had a brief taste of international cricket on the 2015 tour of Zimbabwe and South Africa where he earned the Man of the Match award on his T20I debut for a 38-ball 62 in Harare. His white-ball numbers are more impressive than his first-class record and a prolific 2017 Ford Trophy season brought him back to the selectors' attention. He was called into the T20 squad when Bangladesh visited but was not included in a final XI before earning a spot for the tri-series in Ireland. Growing up, Worker had captained Palmerston North Boys, the same school that Jacob Oram studied at, and scored 71 on his first-class debut in 2007.
