West Indies A squad

  • Veerasammy Permaul (capt), Jason Holder, Devendra Bishoo, Nkrumah Bonner, Kraigg Brathwaite, Jonathan Carter, Kyle Corbin, Delorn Johnson, Leon Johnson, Kevin McClean, Donovan Pagon, Lendl Simmons, Devon Thomas

West Indies have named an A squad with considerable international experience for the first unofficial Test against India A in Barbados early next month.

Devendra Bishoo, the legspinner, and batsman Kraigg Brathwaite, who both played in the Test series against Australia, have been included along with Lendl Simmons.

However, a change has already been required after Tino Best was called up to the tour of England to replace Shannon Gabriel. Kevin McClean, the Barbados fast bowler, has been drafted in as a replacement.

Bishoo lost his Test place after the opening match against Australia, when Shane Shillingford was recalled. In 11 Tests he has taken 40 wickets at 39.55 and has also played 13 one-day internationals and four Twenty20s.

Donovan Pagon is another player with brief Test experience having played two matches, while Devon Thomas, Leon Johnson and Nkrumah Bonner have played in one-day internationals or Twenty20s.

Veerasammy Permaul, the Guyana left-arm spinner, will resume his role as captain and will have Barbados allrounder Jason Holder as his deputy. The three unofficial Tests start on June 2 and is followed by two Twenty20s and three one-dayers.

Where are the batsmen? You are kidding me! If these are the best of the rest, batting is a major worry for WI.

What happen to Rajendra Chandrika as the opening batsman who is the selectors that is so one sided you leave out the best opening batsman from HPC

Probably the obsession is because Narine is a damned fine bowler.

Will people stop naming Sarwan, and Taylor, they are not around and what is this obsession with Narine?

@ PunchDrunkPunter: excellent team selection. May be we can gave Fidel edwards and Dwayne Bravo instead of Rampaul/Taylor and Samuels. If they can pay this line up WI are better than any team in the world.

WI 1st XI: Gayle, Barath, Sarwan, Bravo, Chanderpaul, Samuels, Ramdin, Taylor, Rampaul, Narine, Roach. Which would make their 'A' Team: Simmonds, Powell, Edwards, Hughes, Deonarine, Bravo, Baugh, Sammy, Shillingford, Edwards, Josephl.

Still no Nikita Miller ?

What does it take to get noticed by the WI selectors?

do HAVE to play in the IPL to get noticed? 1st class cricket in the WI accounts for nothing?
