At Brisbane, December 23. West Indies won by nine wickets. Boycott again proved England"s most effective batsman after Randall went first ball. He shared in stands of 70 in nineteen overs with Willey and 97 in twenty overs with Gower as England scored a challenging 217 for eight. Once Richards joined Greenidge, however, the result was never in doubt. Richards hit two 6s and ten 4s in his brilliant 85 scored out of 109 for the second wicket off just 77 deliveries. Greenidge allowed his partner most of the strike as West Indies won with 3.1 overs to spare.
