At Napier, March 19. New Zealand won by seven wickets. Fresh from a victory over Australia in a one-day match played in Sydney in aid of a bushfire appeal, New Zealand won very easily. The tourists totalled 167 for eight, many of these coming from a late stand between Ratnayeke and De Silva. For New Zealand the Crowe brothers, Jeff and Martin, shared an unbroken partnership of 87, the first 50 of them coming in 38 minutes.
