At Adelaide, January 30. Australia won by 70 runs. Australia won convincingly against a demoralised Pakistan side, whereupon Mohsin Khan announced his intention, later rescinded, to retire. Mohsin had batted down the order and made 19 in 69 minutes in a line-up which never threatened to overtake Australia once the openers were separated. For Australia, Wessels made 61 in 96 balls and shared an opening stand of 70 with Smith, after which the young Victorian, Jones, on his debut for Australia, made a bold 40 not out from 33 balls to carry Australia past 200.
