At Sydney, February 12 (day/night). West Indies won by seven wickets, securing the World Series Cup for the fourth time in a match that proved an anti-climax. Australia, put in, laboured against West Indies' bowling and fielding, which reverted to its highest standards, and could manage only 67 for four by the halfway stage of their innings. Wood had also retired hurt with a cracked finger. O'Donnell hit two 6s and three 4s in his highest score of the tournament, but West Indies made light work of their target as Haynes and Richards added 128 from 29 overs.
