†AUSTRALIA v WEST INDIES 1986-87

At Melbourne, January 20 (day/night). West Indies won by seven wickets, recording their 100th win in 131 one-day internationals. Australia, sent in, were under pressure from the start, Marsh falling to Garner's second ball and Wellham taking nineteen balls to score his first run. They lost their fourth and fifth wickets at 74 in the 32nd over, but Border and O'Donnell added 91 in the next seventeen overs to set West Indies at least a modest challenge. O'Donnell's 52 from 64 balls included a straight six off Marshall, who then dismissed him to capture his 100th wicket in one-day internationals. Once Greenidge and Haynes had carefully put on 54 from 14.5 overs, West Indies were assured of victory. Haynes (67 from 121 balls) and Logie (44 from 71 balls) settled the issue by adding 79.

Man of the Match: D. L. Haynes. Attendance: 63,164.
