Pepsi Champions Trophy 1993-94, fifth match

PAKISTAN v SRI LANKA

At Sharjah, November 2. Pakistan won by two wickets. Toss: Sri Lanka. International debut: Aamer Hanif.

Saeed Anwar scored his third hundred in a row, hitting 11 fours and two sixes off 104 balls, but Pakistan won with only two balls to spare. After Saeed and Asif Mujtaba opened at a frenetic six an over, the middle order lost steam. Saeed departed in the 40th over, and another five wickets fell - three to run-outs - before Aamer Hanif, flown in to reinforce the injury-ridden squad, saw them home.

Mahanama and Jayasuriya had compiled Sri Lanka's first century partnership of the week, Jayasuriya hitting 65 from 56 balls. The result confirmed that Pakistan would play West Indies in the final, but without their captain: Wasim Akram fractured his hand while batting. Abdul Qadir's comeback was halted when he twisted his ankle.

Man of the Match: Saeed Anwar.
