Singer World Series, fourth qualifying match

INDIA v ZIMBABWE

At Sinhalese Sports Club, Colombo, September 1. India won by seven wickets. Toss: India.

The Zimbabweans put on a better show than in their first match, chiefly thanks to Andy Flower and Wishart, who added 84. Kumble was unusually late into the Indian attack but, when he did come on, claimed four for 33 in ten overs. This offered Zimbabwe some hope that their leg-spinner, Paul Strang, might give them a chance; instead, he was thrashed for 73. Tendulkar and Jadeja opened in the Sri Lankan manner, scoring 91 in the first 15 overs. There was an attempt, supported by referee John Reid, to reduce Zimbabwe's total to 225, because the television camera had missed umpire Samarasinghe signalling a wide against Prasad; the scorers remained adamant that they had seen and acknowledged the signal.

Man of the Match: A. Jadeja.
