First One-Day International

Pakistan v Australia 1998-99

At Karachi, November 6. Australia won by 86 runs. Toss: Pakistan.

After a break for the Mini World Cup in Dhaka, the teams returned to Pakistan (with a slightly different cast) for a one-day series. Australia kept their unbeaten record on this tour in overwhelming style. Opener Gilchrist scored 45 off 36 balls. Then a fifth-wicket partnership of 157 between Lehmann, who scored a powerful 103 in 101 balls, and Bevan helped them to 324. After losing their top three for 19, Pakistan never really threatened, despite 92 off 110 balls by Yousuf Youhana.

Man of the Match: D. S. Lehmann.
