Sixth One-Day International

South Africa v West Indies 1998-99

At Bloemfontein, February 5. South Africa won by 114 runs. Toss: South Africa. International debut: P. V. Mpitsang.

Free State fast bowler Victor Mpitsang became the youngest player to represent South Africa in either Test or one-day international cricket. At 18 years and 314 days, he was 26 days junior to Paul Adams on his Test debut. Cronje was the mainstay of South Africa's innings with 82. West Indies got off to a promising start, reaching 40 without loss in the ninth over, but in an appalling collapse lost eight wickets in the next nine overs. Cronje then seemed content to delay the finish to keep a 15,500 crowd happy.

Man of the Match: W. J. Cronje. Attendance: 15,498.
