Meril International Tournament 1998-99, third match

Bangladesh v Zimbabwe

At Dhaka, March 21 (day/night). Zimbabwe won by 126 runs. Toss: Zimbabwe.

A strong performance from the Zimbabwean top order ensured a total far beyond the reach of Bangladesh. Andy Flower was on 79 when a direct throw from Aminul Islam seemed to have run him out. But delays by the TV crew meant that the third umpire, V. K. Ramaswamy, took ten minutes to rule in the fieldsman's favour. It did nothing to staunch the flow of runs, though: Carlisle smashed 35 from 23 balls as Zimbabwe took 59 from the last five overs. Bangladesh began poorly, losing three wickets for 26, but a dogged 73 by Mehrab Hossain at least prevented humiliation.

Man of the Match: A. Flower.
