Coca-Cola Cup 1998-99, second match

India v Pakistan

At Sharjah. April 8 (day/night). Pakistan won by 116 runs. Toss: Pakistan.

Pakistan, who had won their last seven one-day matches against India, three of them by more than 100 runs, did it again. Inzamam-ul-Haq scored 107 off 115 balls, with six fours and three sixes, and shared his second decisive partnership in two days, this time 140 with Yousuf Youhana. Without Tendulkar's inspiration, and with several players struggling against a virus, India never showed any inclination to chase a target of 280. Sensing their impotence, Wasim Akram did not even bother to use his full quota of ten overs, or that of his new-ball partner Shoaib Akhtar.

Man of the Match: Inzamam-ul-Haq.
