India v Pakistan 1999-2000

At Sharjah, March 23 (day/night). India won by five wickets. Toss: Pakistan.

Choosing to bat backfired on Pakistan, who were two down by the third over. But, after Imran Nazir scored a brisk 43, Inzamam-ul-Haq steered them to 108 for three, only to be involved, once again, in a run-out. Wicket-keeper Karim threw down the stumps at the bowler's end as striker Yousuf Youhana went for a single. Inzamam, rather than go on, tried to regain his ground, and it took the third umpire to decide that it was Youhana who should leave. Next ball, Inzamam was caught behind and Pakistan's last seven wickets fell for 38 runs. India needed only 147, but their chase dragged into the 44th over. Azharuddin made sure of victory with the match's only fifty, striking seven fours.

Man of the Match: M. Azharuddin.
