India v South Africa 1999-2000

At Sharjah, March 27 (day/night). South Africa won by six wickets. Toss: India.

Cronje struck Robin Singh for six over long-on to complete South Africa's eighth straight win at Sharjah and seal their place in the final. They had faltered when Prasad extracted Gibbs and Klusener with successive balls; had Jadeja held a catch offered by Kallis in the 27th over, they would have been 100 for five. Instead, Kallis and Cronje made certain there were no further alarms. India's innings had started quite smoothly, reaching 80 for one before McKenzie's direct hit dismissed Azharuddin. Tendulkar was also run out in the subsequent flurry of wickets, and Hayward, opening the bowling because Pollock was injured, picked up a career-best four for 31. As in their previous encounter, South Africa bowled India out for 164.

Man of the Match: M. Hayward.
