At St George's, April 16. West Indies won by 17 runs. Toss: West Indies.
With both sides already qualified, fast bowlers Ambrose and Wasim Akram were rested before the three-match final. Contrasting fifties from Campbell and Powell boosted West Indies to a satisfying 248 for six. Campbell's 89-ball 56 laid the platform from which Powell launched his power-hitting, with two sixes and a four in 36 balls. Abdur Razzaq and Arshad Khan both went for 16 in an over. After King quickly despatched the Pakistani openers, with a run-out in between, Inzamam-ul-Haq and Yousuf Youhana sensibly plotted a path to revival. Their stand was worth 123 when Inzamam was run out, for the 32nd time in 218 one-day internationals. Youhana fell two overs later, King bowled Razzaq, and the lower order could not threaten West Indies' 100 per cent record.
Man of the Match: R. D. King.
