Final

Pakistan v South Africa, 2000-01

At Kallang Ground, Singapore, August 27. South Africa won by 93 runs (D/L method). Toss: South Africa.
A near-capacity Sunday crowd thronged the Kallang expecting a dogfight, but South Africa won toss, match and title with consummate ease. Interrupted by a lengthy rain-break, they ran up 197 in 35 overs thanks to a classy 97-run partnership in 14 overs between left-handers Kirsten and Boje. Both made fifties: Kirsten's was his third in succession, Boje's his first in one-day internationals. Pakistan's target was set at 215 in 35 overs and, after three early blows, they were clawing their way back into contention at 74 for three in the 17th over. Then Kirsten's accurate throw from the deep ended the 24-run cameo by an unfit but spirited Saeed Anwar, the next two wickets fell in 11 balls, and the last-gasp aggression of Ijaz Ahmed and Atiq-uz-Zaman could not revive Pakistan's challenge.

Man of the Match: N. Boje. Man of the Series: G. Kirsten.
