The President's XI scored 393-5 on the first day after being put in, with Imraan Khan hitting 18 fours in his 100. The Australians were set 226 to win, and were 55 short when the captains agreed to end the match 25 minutes early. Openers Hughes and North (who had earlier taken his maiden first-class five-for - 11-0-69-6 - with his off-spin) both retired out in the second innings, as did Katich in the first. With several players suffering from stomach trouble Australia's fitness coach, Stuart Karppinen, fielded as substitute on the last day.
