Mumbai Indians v Rajasthan Royals

Indian Premier League, 2008-09

Nagraj Gollapudi

At Durban, May 14, 2009 (floodlit). Rajasthan Royals won by two runs. Toss: Rajasthan Royals. Rajasthan Royals 145-7 (20 overs) (R. J. Quiney 51, R. A. Jadeja 42); Mumbai Indians 143 (19.5 overs) (S. R. Tendulkar 40, A. M. Nayar 35; S. K. Warne 3-24). Rajasthan Royals 2 pts. Man of the Match: S. K. Warne.

Warne orchestrated a victory that had seemed to be slipping away when Abhishek Nayar was using the long handle to great effect: he hit four fours and a six from 18 balls, and while he and Tendulkar were together Mumbai were favourites. But Tendulkar was trapped in front by Warne, and the rest of the batsmen were like rabbits in the headlights. They entered the last over, bowled by Munaf Patel, needing just four runs with only seven wickets down, but three wickets in four balls, two of them run-outs, left them short.
