India v Pakistan, 2012-13

Dileep Premachandran

At Kolkata, January 3, 2013 (day/night). Pakistan won by 85 runs. Toss: India.

Nasir Jamshed struck his third consecutive hundred against India, then watched Pakistan's bowlers embarrass the home batsmen again in a match as one-sided as the result suggests. Once Junaid Khan and Umar Gul had made early inroads, India's pursuit of 251 was never on. Even Dhoni, so heroic at Chennai, dawdled untypically, consuming 89 balls for his unbeaten 54. India had been just as poor with the ball at first, allowing Jamshed and Mohammad Hafeez to put on 141 at nearly six an over.

An ugly heave against Jadeja - recalled in place of Rohit Sharma to strengthen the bowling - cost Hafeez, and Ishant Sharma helped keep the Pakistan total to manageable proportions. But Jamshed's beautifully paced 106 was an effort no Indian came close to emulating in the face of more hostile and accurate bowling. It was Pakistan's fourth one-day international against India at Eden Gardens - and they had won all of them.

Man of the Match: Nasir Jamshed.
