2nd ODI, Harare

Zimbabwe v Pakistan, 2013-14

At Harare, August 29, 2013. Second one-day international: Pakistan won by 90 runs. Pakistan 299-4 (50 overs) (Nasir Jamshed 32, Mohammad Hafeez 136*, Umar Amin 59, Shahid Afridi 39*); ‡Zimbabwe 209 (42.4 overs) (B. R. M. Taylor 79, S. C. Williams 37, M. N. Waller 40; Junaid Khan 4-15). MoM: Mohammad Hafeez. Having been taught a painful lesson about the Zimbabwean winter two days earlier, Pakistan - this time put in to bat - waited as long as possible for the sun to flatten the pitch, and then flogged an eye-watering 99 from the final nine overs. Misbah fell in single figures for only the second time in his last 20 one-day internationals, but Hafeez paced his hundred perfectly: 50 from 65 balls, 100 from 111, then 36 from his final 19. Shahid Afridi delighted a small but enthusiastic group of Pakistan supporters with three trademark baseball hits for six, one of which landed in the HSC rugby ground next door, well over 100 metres away. Zimbabwe attempted a similar strategy, but Junaid Khan (7-2-15-4) was hostile, accurate and almost unhittable.
