India v West Indies

At Port-of-Spain, Trinidad, July 5, 2013. India won by 102 runs (D/L). Toss: West Indies. India 5pts.

Stung by their defeats in Kingston, India dominated from start to finish to earn a crucial bonus point. Rohit Sharma and Dhawan set the stage for a formidable total, putting on 123 in 23 overs. Once Dhawan fell - shortly after blitzing Narine for two sixes and a four off successive balls - Kohli took charge with a classy 102 from 83 deliveries, his 14th one-day hundred. He and Ashwin rounded off an innings that was faltering at 221 for six in the 42nd over by piling on 90 from the last 50 balls. Oddly, West Indies' two most economical bowlers, Sammy and Samuels, each bowled only eight of their possible ten overs, while the last three, from skipper Bravo and Roach, went for 38. Rain interrupted West Indies' response at 44 for two after nine overs, and a revised target of 274 from 39 was always well beyond them.
Man of the Match: V. Kohli.
