John Davies was a Midland Bank manager who played once for Glamorgan, scoring 11 and 0 against Worcestershire at Cardiff Arms Park. But promotion within the bank led to him deciding not to look to further his county career, and instead he became a leading figure in South Wales club cricket. A right-hand batsman and legspinner, he played for Cowbridge, who he led for 15 years before becoming treasurer and then president. He also played for the Forty Club and Herefordshire.
DAVIES, JOHN ANTHONY, died on April 1, 2005, aged 79. A batsman from Pontypridd, he played once for Glamorgan, in the last Championship match of 1952, making 11 and nought against Worcestershire. He also represented Herefordshire.
