Floyd Reifer, the West Indies captain, has said his team has learnt from the loss in the Test series and is confident of handing Bangladesh their first defeat of the tour in Sunday's one-dayer.

"We are still confident because we know the mistakes that we made in the two Test matches," he said after Saturday's practice sessions in Dominica.

Reifer picked out the batting as the difference between the two sides in the Tests, where West Indies crossed 250 only once in four innings. "Once we bat well, I'm confident we could win the series," he said. "We're willing to go out there and play tough cricket."

It has been more than a decade since Reifer played one-dayers for West Indies, and the ongoing dispute between the region's top cricketers and the board means he leads a makeshift side for the first two matches. Chris Gayle and Co have ended their strike and made themselves available for international duty, and it is still unclear whether Reifer and his inexperienced group will be picked for the third and final ODI.

The 37-year-old Reifer however said that the uncertainty was not hampering his side's preparation. "Off-the-field issues (are) not affecting the team at all," he said. "The guys are here to play cricket, they know what cricket means to the people of the Caribbean. All the past great players (who) played for the West Indies, we know cricket means a lot to them so we are going to go out there to play hard."

Sunday's game will be the first time Dominica hosts international cricket, and the match is the first of three ODIs, after which Bangaldesh will round off their tour with a Twenty20 in St Kitts.
