Bal also says that both teams are not just equally matched, but they're equally mediocre. Barring Anil Kumble, their bowling attacks are equivalent to those of first-class sides, and their batting is equally good, though Mahendra Singh Dhoni at No. 7 gives India the edge. Bal also explains why Irfan Pathan will never be another Wasim Akram, and should be groomed as a No. 6 batsman and a fifth bowler.
