Sri Lanka in West Indies Test Series - 2nd Test

West Indies v Sri Lanka

West Indies won by 6 wickets

Overs 1-50  | Overs 51-100

15.2

Edwards to Warnapura, OUT, Fidel makes the first breakthrough. Caught by a diving Chattergoon at third slip. Teasing delivery - on a length around the off stump and shaping away - Warnapura likes to push hard at deliveries and got an outside edge this time. Fatal. Chattergoon lunged to his left to catch it.

SM Warnapura c Chattergoon b Edwards 35 (38b 8x4 0x6) SR: 92.10

Sri Lanka 62/1   MG Vandort 22* (55b 4x4)   FH Edwards 2.2-0-4-1

17.1

Edwards to Sangakkara, OUT, Fidel Edwards is rocking the SL boat. Takes out Sangakkara now. It lands on the good length and moves away with the angle, Sangakkara pushes at it a bit tentatively and nicks it behind. Suddenly, two quick wickets have fallen, including the big wicket of Sanga, and Gayle must be breathing a lot easier. Remember, he won the toss.

KC Sangakkara c †Ramdin b Edwards 10 (9b 1x4 0x6) SR: 111.11

Sri Lanka 72/2   MG Vandort 22* (57b 4x4)   FH Edwards 3.1-0-7-2

25.6

Edwards to Vandort, OUT, Caught down the leg side. It was drifting past the hips, Vandort tried to tickle it fine and nicked it, off the face of the bat, to the diving Ramdin, who takes a very good catch. Windies strike immediately post lunch.

MG Vandort c †Ramdin b Edwards 30 (81b 5x4 0x6) SR: 37.03

Sri Lanka 93/3   DPMD Jayawardene 12* (29b 2x4)   FH Edwards 8-2-14-3

28.5

Taylor to Samaraweera, OUT, Caught by Gayle at first slip. After beating him twice, he gets his man this time. It was a length delivery in the zone outside off and moving away, Samaraweera had a waft at it, bat away from the body, and the ball met the wood. It has to be said that it was quite a bad stroke.

TT Samaraweera c Gayle b Taylor 6 (9b 1x4 0x6) SR: 66.66

Sri Lanka 112/4   DPMD Jayawardene 25* (37b 5x4)   JE Taylor 6.5-1-36-1

30.1

Taylor to Jayawardene, OUT, What an awesome delivery. It landed on a length, on the middle and off and cut away past the defensive poke to crash into the off stump. Mahela thought he had it covered. Even, the bowler had turned around to appeal, little knowing he had hit the stumps and Bowden decided to put the finger up, for his sake. At the other end, a stunned Mahela swung around, after seeing the finger go up, and was confronted with the damage. Gone! Strange, he didn't hear that death rattle.

DPMD Jayawardene b Taylor 26 (41b 5x4 0x6) SR: 63.41

Sri Lanka 117/5   TM Dilshan 4* (4b 1x4)   JE Taylor 7.1-2-36-2

46.6

Edwards to Dilshan, OUT, Death by aggression. Dilshan has combusted early. Short in length, on the middle stump line, Dilshan went for his pull, topedged it behind square and Ramdin ran to his left to take a neat catch. Out for 62. An interesting little counterattacking innings.

TM Dilshan c †Ramdin b Edwards 62 (60b 8x4 0x6) SR: 103.33

Sri Lanka 222/6   LPC Silva 37* (48b 6x4)   FH Edwards 13-2-55-4

47.5

Powell to Vaas, OUT, Another pull that goes awry. Two in two overs. It was a short in length and slanted across Vass who fetched it from outside off but all he could get was a top edge that Ramdin, running to his right, pouched safely.

WPUJC Vaas c †Ramdin b Powell 1 (3b 0x4 0x6) SR: 33.33

Sri Lanka 224/7   LPC Silva 38* (50b 6x4)   DBL Powell 10.5-4-45-1

54.2

Edwards to Silva, 1 run, OUT, Direct hit from Sarwan. It was short of length, on middle and leg and was clipped through midwicket. Sarwan, running to his right, swooped on the ball, swung around and released a direct hit at the base of the stumps at the non-striker's end. Bowden had referred it to the third umpire and Mirando was caught just short of the crease. Fidel was about to collect the throw when he sensed it might hit the sticks directly and wisely, let it go through. Crash and run out.

T Thushara run out 1 (21b 0x4 0x6) SR: 4.76

Sri Lanka 240/8   LPC Silva 53* (68b 8x4)   FH Edwards 16.2-4-64-4

55.3

Powell to Muralitharan, OUT, Bravo takes a very good catch at third man. Entertainment is cut short. Murali did what he does: moves outside leg and has a slog. The outside edge took the ball towards third man region where Bravo, standing well inside the ropes, ran in quickly and dived at the last minute to hold a very fine catch.

M Muralitharan c Bravo b Powell 8 (3b 2x4 0x6) SR: 266.66

Sri Lanka 255/9   LPC Silva 59* (73b 9x4)   DBL Powell 14.3-6-53-2

64.5

Bravo to Silva, OUT, Sl are bowled out for 278. Silva pulls a bouncer and sends it down to right of Powell at long leg.

LPC Silva c Powell b Bravo 76 (108b 12x4 0x6) SR: 70.37

Sri Lanka 278/10   MKDI Amerasinghe 0* (22b)   DJ Bravo 10.3-2-53-1
