Emily Drumm, the former New Zealand captain, today left for Kent to represent the county as their overseas player in the English women's county championship. She will also do some coaching.

Drumm, who intends to be away for one to two years, highlighted her commitment to her national team.

"I will still be available for New Zealand," Drumm told The New Zealand Herald. "This is just an opportunity I'm keen to make the most of."

Drumm was one of the star performers in the domestic season, amassing 478 runs at an average of 53.11 for the State Northern Spirit in the State League. She played her 100th one-day international this year and enjoyed a good home series against India, scoring 274 runs and picking up eight wickets. In March, she was awarded The Ruth Martin Cup for her meritorious performances this season, in the New Zealand Cricket Awards Dinner in Auckland.
